Mission Statement:
Believing that Pasco County’s history, historic sites, and older
cemeteries are valuable as historic resources for the residents and
local governments and recognizing the urgent need for the preservation
and restoration of these resources, the Pasco County Historical
Preservation Society, Inc., d/b/a the Friends of Pasco County's
Historic Cemeteries and Friends of Hernando County's Historic Cemeteries, establishes itself as a consultant and support
group to aid or assist any individual, private organization, commercial
entity, state government agency, city government agency, or county
government agency in the investigation, definition, restoration,
preservation, documentation, and education of Pasco and Hernando counties' history, historic sites, and older
cemeteries as historic resources.
About our organization:
The Pasco County Historical
Preservation Society, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation organized under
the laws of the State of Florida whose principal business location is Pasco
County Florida. The Pasco County Historical Preservation Society, Inc., d/b/a Friends of Pasco County's Historic
Cemeteries and Friends of Hernando County's Historic Cemeteries, is a full donation supported organization and all donations
go to support the education, investigation, definition, restoration, and
preservation of Pasco County’s history, historic sites, and older
cemeteries as historic resources and through efforts that include but are
not limited to: research and documentation, field work and
investigation, headstone repair and restoration, cemetery preservation,
resources management, and historic preservation. The Pasco County
Historical Preservation Society, Inc. keeps a full record of all
donations, along with an account of the preservation and restoration
projects that the society has been involved with through the years.
Our Resources:
The Pasco County Historical Preservation Society, Inc. also maintains a
wide-variety of physical and digital, on-line, resources pertaining to
the history, historic sites, and historic cemeteries of Pasco and
Hernando counties. Many of these resources are provided FREE of
charge, which is a direct result of our donations. If not for
donations these resources might not be available, so please take this
into consideration when viewing our historical resources. These
resources not only aid in our cemetery and historic preservation and
restoration work, but they are also compiled to preserve the historic
records themselves. In additions to donations we also accept any
contributions of historical research, information, or records; which
might become part of our on-line database. Our
physical and on-line resources include but are not limited to:
historical articles, burial and cemetery records, maps, photographs, biographies and records or documentation.
Cemetery Preservation & Restoration:
The Pasco County Historical Preservation Society, Inc., d/b/a
Friends of Pasco County's Historic Cemeteries and Friends of Hernando
County's Historic Cemeteries, has been
actively involved with the preservation and restoration of Pasco and Hernando counties most historic and
older cemeteries and we have made this work a top priority. This tedious and wide ranged preservation and
restoration work includes but is not limited to historic research, field
research and investigation, headstone transcriptions, headstone repair and
restoration, burial locating, mapping and burial records, and the cleaning and
beautification of cemetery property. All
of our cemetery preservation and restoration projects/ services are
performed in accordance with guidelines and standards supported by the
State
Historic Preservation Office and the Historic Tallahassee Preservation
